Toys was 30 years ahead of its time, and critics hated it

Toys is one of the best movies ever made. Its visual design is apparently inspired by the hyper-real, surreal art of René Magritte. Unlike a Magritte painting, everything in Toys could physically happen. But nobody would spend so lavishly to make the sets of Toys come to life unless they were making a movie. American Revolution 2 is an Electrifying Record of 60s Leftists

American Revolution 2 documents the activist conditions of 1968 Chicago. The first 30 minutes are a bit slow, but the rest is electrifying. It shows how the Black Panther Party united with a poor white group, the Young Patriots Organization. I Gave Up on Watchlist Zero, but I'm Basically at "Top Watchlist" Zero

I’ve posted in the past about getting my watchlist to zero. It was growing with no signs of slowing. Disney's Blank Check Unintentionally Hates Capitalism

cw: grooming Disney’s Blank Check is a miserable film. It encourages the worst impulses of children. It praises wealth and capitalism with no regard for what one does with either. And then there’s the hideous grooming subplot along with the grooming-adjacent other characters. But it says something the writer did not intend: capitalism corrupts. The lead boy (Preston) has no friends, is picked on, and is last in command of his 5-person household.

Mini movie reviews

The first heaven segment of What Dreams May Come looks unique and amazing. I assume the effects were too expensive in 1998 to last the whole movie. The rest of the movie has noteworthy painting-inspired aesthetics, but that first section is the best. Your browser doesn't support embedded videos, but don't worry, you can download it and watch it with your favorite video player! If this wasn’t a 90s movie, the death scene wouldn’t have been so absurd.
